Oh Man

Today is a Monday in every sense of the word.  I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and when I finally just got so sick of myself I went downstairs, I realized that the leak that had been fixed in our upstairs shower had not indeed been fixed.  This was evidenced due to the fact that the bread was now wet.  All of this before I’d had my coffee.

Kennedy woke up in a great mood, ready to play, laugh, help out and DANCE!  We did a lot of all of this and even watched a little TV.  Mondays are typically busy, filled with all sorts of things, but today I just wanted to hang with my kid.  Maybe work on this whole potty training thing.  I just took her diaper off and let her run nakey and if she wanted she could wear some of her Thomas the Train unders.  She gets a little nervous about making the various trains sad if she gets them wet, so she usually opts to not wear any.

We were eating lunch when she knocked her apple sauce off of the table.  I was going to get some paper towels when my heel hit a patch of the invisible sauce and I fell flat on my (well-padded) rear.  After Kennedy got over the shock of seeing me fall, she goes, “Oh man.”  And hit her forehead with her hand.

I laughed for the first time today.  Oh man.  I can’t do anything but choose to look at things in a better light.  Everything that is going on, there is nothing I can do to change it.  I can’t make the leak magically fix itself (the plumber is coming back tomorrow) and I can’t go back and have a do-over on waking up.

I was crafting this blog in my head and then something truly MAGICAL happened.  Kennedy finally did it.  She peed in the potty! The heavens opened and the angels rejoiced.  Of course, she’ll hate me in about 10 years for writing this on the net for the entire world to see, but I have to say, between her comment when I fell and the miracle of potty time… my Monday just got a whole helluvalot better.
