Over the River and Through the Woods
Last week we did something we’ve never done before.
We left Kennedy for a weekend with her Me-Maw and headed to the beach.
I wasn’t nervous, Jason was fine, Kennedy certainly wasn’t nervous… I’m pretty sure Me-Maw was a LITTLE nervous. With reason since Kennedy hasn’t been away from me over night since sometime in July 2008.
Our normal six hour drive took closer to NINE (that’s right, NINE hours) because we hit every possible traffic snarl on our way up there. This included regular five o’clock traffic, an accident somewhere off the interstate but obviously the only hwy in Georgia and a rolling roadblock. You know something about those rolling roadblocks? They don’t really roll. We finally got to Me-Maw’s house around 2 in the morning.
Jason and I rolled sleepily out of town the next day around lunchtime for ANOTHER long drive to the beach. We called A LOT to check on our mini. I mean, a lot.
Know what?
Kennedy didn’t miss us one iota.
I had never had any thoughts that she really would, but one little, “I miss you, Mommy.” would have been nice.
Then again if I’d been spoiled at Me-Maws like Kennedy was being spoiled I probably wouldn’t have missed me either.

Hannah, Kennedy and Sarah- they kept K well entertained
