Things I Really Love Right Now…
Here’s a list of things that are making me happy…
- I got a new broom vacuum for the downstairs (most of the downstairs is hardwoods) and it is awesome. Trying to finagle a broom and a dustpan when you have one leg and two crutches, that’s just too much. So, the broom vac is an awesome addition to my household (and the fact that cat hair is sucked up so easily).
- Vacuuming in general. Back in college when I was working with the National Theater Workshop for the Handicapped I met a woman who wanted to vacuum when she was stressed. Or, since she was from Ireland, she called it “Hoovering.” It was something that I couldn’t comprehend at the time. Who would want to vacuum when they could eat chocolate? Since it is spring here in the south, and we have fuzzy cats, this means they are shedding. And the simple joy I get from running my vacuum and sucking up that cat hair is indescribable.
- Eating outside. This means I don’t have to sweep up whatever ends up on the floor. It’s just feeding the birds.
- My new bed. We got a new bed last week. It is a king size. I feel like I’m sleeping in a really comfortable lake. It is awesome.
- Kennedy dancing. I was singing “Defying Gravity” (from Wicked, I’ll wait while you go listen to it on YouTube) while cooking dinner. Kennedy came in and did her own personal interpretative dancing to it. It involved the trashcan and made me laugh so hard that I missed the high notes. It made me think of Emily Grace and Eileen from college and the dances I witnessed in our hall.
- Swimming. I’ve been swimming for a week now since I can’t really row with my back being all out of sorts. I’m up to 1250 meters and hope to swim a mile by the end of this week.
- The awesome service I got at Wells Fargo today. I took a check today to Wells Fargo to be cashed. I was in the drive thru. I’m not a customer and because of that they aren’t really supposed to let me cash it without coming in. I understood the policy and just asked for my check back, I had K with me and just couldn’t get out of the car with her. They were so nice and instead made an exception. Thank You Wells Fargo for making smart (and thoughtful) accommodations.
- Writing and letting others read what I’m writing. When I write here I just assume that no one reads it. So, when I hand someone my works in progress, my own fiction, and get feedback of any sort it’s great.
- My new crutches with the new Tornado Rain Tip crutch tip. I tested it out today at the pool and I don’t feel as unstable on wet, slick floors now.
- Jason and Kennedy playing together at night. I looked out my kitchen window this evening and saw Jason holding Kennedy up. Their heads were together and I know that Jason was explaining something interesting about nature to her. It made my heart so warm.
